It was released as soundtrack&#8217;s second single in Italy and France in January 2019. The song was written by Lady Gaga,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Natalie_Hemby\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Natalie Hemby<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hillary_Lindsey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hillary Lindsey<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lori_McKenna\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lori McKenna<\/a>, and produced by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dave_Cobb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dave Cobb<\/a>&nbsp;and Lady Gaga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The song has received widespread critical acclaim and has reached the top of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Record_chart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">record chart<\/a>&nbsp;in Iceland and the top ten in Belgium (both Flanders and Wallonia), Hungary, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Sweden and Switzerland, the digital charts of Luxembourg, Slovakia and the combined European chart. The track has also reached the top twenty in Denmark, Estonia, France, Malaysia, and on the digital chart of Czech Republic. It reached the top twenty of the Australian and New Zealand charts, while achieving triple platinum certification from the former governing body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Always Remember Us This Way&#8221; received a nomination for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Grammy_Award_for_Song_of_the_Year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Song of the Year<\/a>&nbsp;at the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/62nd_Annual_Grammy_Awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">62nd Grammy Awards<\/a>, the second nomination from the album in this category after &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shallow_(Lady_Gaga_and_Bradley_Cooper_song)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shallow<\/a>&#8220;, which was nominated for the year before. Cobb flew out to Los Angeles and met Gaga and Cooper for a writing session. He played the track &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maybe_It%27s_Time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maybe It&#8217;s Time<\/a>&#8221; (written by singer-songwriter&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jason_Isbell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jason Isbell<\/a>), which impressed Gaga and Cooper and set the tone for the soundtrack. They asked Hemby, Lindsey and McKenna to come down to Los Angeles and start composing tracks.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Always_Remember_Us_This_Way#cite_note-hb-4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[4]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Always Remember Us This Way&#8221; was released to Italian radios on January 4, 2019, followed by release in French radios two weeks later.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Always_Remember_Us_This_Way#cite_note-it-release-5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[5]<\/a><\/sup><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Always_Remember_Us_This_Way#cite_note-fr-release-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[6]<\/a><\/sup>&nbsp;A&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Music_video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">music video<\/a>&nbsp;for the song was released previously, showing the sequence from the film when Gaga sings the track after being introduced by Jackson onstage, who sweetly tells her, &#8220;I love you, I&#8217;ll always remember us this way&#8221;. A vertical-shaped version of the clip was released to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Spotify\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spotify<\/a>.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Always_Remember_Us_This_Way#cite_note-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[7]<\/a><\/sup>&nbsp;Brooke Bajgrowicz from&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Billboard_(magazine)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Billboard<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;explained that the &#8220;reflective video&#8221; showed Ally and Jackson &#8220;falling in love with each other&#8221;, while interspersed with scenes of the couple going on a motorbike ride, kissing in a parking lot and performing music together. The clip ends with the crowd chanting Ally&#8217;s name, and Jackson walks over to embrace her.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Always_Remember_Us_This_Way#cite_note-mvrelease-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[8]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recording and composition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/File:Electric_Lady_Studios.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/f\/f5\/Electric_Lady_Studios.jpg\/220px-Electric_Lady_Studios.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The song was mixed at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Electric_Lady_Studios\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Electric Lady Studios<\/a>&nbsp;in New York City.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Always Remember Us This Way&#8221; was recorded immediately after the songwriters finished composing it. They also provided backing vocals as Gaga recorded her vocals in the studio. Cobb said, &#8220;It was pure magic when that went down and you can hear it in the film\u2014the energy and the excitement that was happening. It&#8217;s amazing to hear that kind of voice come through headphones.&#8221; Lindsey, who had previously collaborated with Gaga on her fifth studio album,&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joanne_(album)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joanne<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;(2016), recalled that the singer had imbibed in the character of Ally she was playing in the film completely. &#8220;She was living in the hurt and ache of Ally losing the love of her life. We all just wanted to hug her. She was so broken up and in so much raw pain,&#8221; Lindsey added.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Always_Remember_Us_This_Way#cite_note-hb-4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[4]<\/a><\/sup>&nbsp;McKenna described the songwriting as a powerful moment because the lyrics made them all tearful, and they decided that if &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maybe_It%27s_Time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maybe It&#8217;s Time<\/a>&#8221; was Cooper&#8217;s character Jackson&#8217;s song, then &#8220;Always Remember Us This Way&#8221; belonged with Ally.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Always_Remember_Us_This_Way#cite_note-esquire-9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[9]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Cobb it was magical when &#8220;[Gaga] got in the vocal booth on the microphone and the writers were in the control room. I was playing with the band, and it just happened. Her voice was as big as the house. All of us had goosebumps.
