It\u2019s crazy, the thing is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00005OCWM?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=golsblo0b-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00005OCWM\" target=\"_blank\">still available on Amazon<\/a> after 8 years. It\u2019s actually ranked #4 in Electronics &gt; Camera &amp; Photo &gt; Printers &amp; Scanners &gt; Flatbed.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"more\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Epson <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epson.com\/cgi-bin\/Store\/support\/supDetail.jsp?oid=14558&amp;prodoid=9679213&amp;infoType=Downloads&amp;platform=Windows\" target=\"_blank\">provides a 32-bit driver on their site<\/a> but not 64-bit.\u00a0 I\u2019ve solved this problem before but it was a massive Google hunt.\u00a0 Next time I\u2019ll have this blog post to look to! \ud83d\ude42<br \/>\nThe solution is pretty simple.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Unplug the scanner from the computer.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epson.com\/cgi-bin\/Store\/support\/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&amp;oid=50666&amp;prodoid=49164280&amp;infoType=Downloads&amp;platform=Windows\" target=\"_blank\">driver page for the Epson 4990<\/a>, download, unzip, and install the driver by clicking the default selection in each dialog box presented.<\/li>\n<li>Plug the 2450 into the computer.\u00a0 Windows will not find the driver.<\/li>\n<li>Click the Windows start button, type &#8216;device manager&#8217; in the search bar, then click Device Manager.<\/li>\n<li>Right click the EPSON Scanner device and select Update Driver Software.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8216;Browse my computer for driver software&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8216;Let me pick from a list of devices on my computer&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Select &#8216;Imaging Devices&#8217; and click Next.<\/li>\n<li>Choose Epson in the Manufacturer column and EPSON Perfection 4990 in the Model column.<\/li>\n<li>Click Next, then Yes, let the software install, then Close.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Done!\u00a0 The scanner should now show up under Imaging Devices.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\"><a href=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7028\/6737621373_d0231aa108_m.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7028\/6737621373_d0231aa108_m.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a pita. \u00a0This is a great scanner (for 35mm photos even, which is why I am trying to get it going again).
