I’ve uploaded the Music Designers Session done as a precursor to recording the album. Go to the home page http://www.baselines.com and you will find a link for it there.

Great songs and well recorded, when and where were these recorded live? Also enjoyed PL album mixes posted previously which are way better than my vinyl album copy transfers. Thanks for the posts!

The song ‘Do The Man And Woman’ is great, that and ‘New Song’ are my favorite new songs(new to me)from this recording. Its interesting to my ear your Bass has a classic Bass sound on these recordings, what classic means to me is hard to describe. Kinda reminds me of the sound Tom Hamilton used to have on some of the 1970’s Aerosmith recordings. Did you play a Fender Bass?

Steve,
Thanks again for sharing these lost Private Lightning gems! Much appreciated. If only the music industry had been different back then….. Better late than never. PL ROCKS AGAIN!

Steve,
Were there tracks recoreded live in the studio? Do you mind giving the fans a little background of this recording? Again, these tracks are awesome. I especially like Light of Lightning! Brings me back to the club days when PL played locally here in Maine. Thanks again!

Hi Jim - These were done shortly before we started on the album. If I remember correctly, a record exec named Mark Spector was present during this session…I think the satirical clapping at the end of Side of the Angels might have been him. These were done live in the studio, no real audience, but no overdubs either. One thing I can remember is that Mark got caught in traffic getting back to the airport that night and purportedly abandoned his rent-a-car on the highway so he wouldn’t miss his flight. Not sure if it is true, but makes a good story.

Hey Steve,
Is Adam Sherman still working in the music business? His web page went dorment. I bought his solo disc and enjoyed it very much! Also own the Souls stuff on vinal which was also unappreciated by the music industry. It would be nice if the former members of PL would send in an updated BIOS so we could see what everyone is up to today and what they’ve done in the last 30 years. Just a thought!
